Green Stevia Powder

Stevia is a green leafy plant that grows easily in gardens across the world and is naturally sweet. The stevia you find in the grocery store goes through a chemical process to be transformed into white crystalized powder that is reminiscent of sugar. After all of the processing it takes to transform a green leafy plant into white crystallized powder, the stevia no longer retains its therapeutic benefits. Many people say they don’t like the taste of stevia, or say it leaves a “chemical-like after taste,” and they are referring to the processed white powder. Green stevia, in its natural form, doesn’t have a chemical after taste because no chemicals are needed to dry the leaves of the plant and grind the leaves into a fine powder.

Unlike many sweeteners available, stevia has been found to have beneficial effects on blood glucose and insulin levels, making it a wonderful option for diabetics or anyone trying to monitor their blood sugar levels. If you are transitioning from using the stevia bought in stores, you would use the same amount of green stevia powder as the white crystalized version. A little goes a long way!
